Heavy-Duty Wheelchairs

With weight capacities of up to 150 Kgs and seat sizes up to 30 inches, heavy duty wheelchairs (often referred to as extra wide wheelchairs or bariatric wheelchairs) are sturdy enough to accommodate almost any user.

Just their lighter cousins, manual chairs, our heavy duty models all fold and feature arm rests and swing-away footrests - but they differ quite a bit in their construction. While lightweight wheelchairs often employ materials like aluminum or titanium alloy, a heavy duty wheelchair is usually fashioned from steel.

Most of the heavy duty wheelchairs we sell fold for storage and transportation and include removable, swing-away footrests. Additional features may include wheelchairs that offer multiple seat sizes, armrest styles, frame colors and wheel options, depending on the model.

These wheelchairs can either be pushed by someone from behind or self-propelled by the person in the wheelchair by means of hand rims attached to the two larger rear wheels.
